  5. Ch 1. Make 1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches, then make 2 sc in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (You should now have 40 sc in your round).
  6. Ch 1. Make 1 sc in each of the next 3 stitches, then make 2 sc in the next stitch. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (You should now have 50 sc in your round).
  7. Ch 2 (counts as your first dc). Make 1 dc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 2.
  8. Ch 2. Make 1 dc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 2.
  9. Repeat step 8 until your beanie reaches the desired length. When you are finished, fasten off and weave in your ends.

And that’s it! You now have a basic winter beanie. You can use any colour of yarn and any size crochet hook to create the beanie of your choice. You can also add a pom-pom or other embellishments to personalise your beanie.
